A solo sailor, photographer and filmmaker, trying to provide inspiration for sailing and outdoor adventures, focused on living simple, a healthy life closer to nature.

I purchased my first sailboat in 2014. A Canadian 26 feet Grampian Marine… and I moved aboard right away. Two years later I changed her for Anastasia, a 28 feet Pearson Triton. I lived in South Beach Miami aboard Anastasia until 2018, when I tried to start my journey sailing solo around the world. Sadly that didn’t go too well due to financial issues, so I had to sell Anastasia and return home in Romania. That broke my heart, but the adventure did not end.

I am also passionate about amateur radio. I got back into the hobby in 2016 while living aboard my sailboat in Miami, but I received my license as YO6DXE in 2022 home in Romania. I am spending most of the time on the HF bands but I also enjoy working FM satellites. I use mostly QRP equipment experimenting with all modes, but I prefer CW or SSB. Most of the equipment I’m building is on the DX Explorer YouTube channel.

After spending a few years home in Romania, it’s time to return at sea. I miss the ocean and the life aboard a sailboat. Currently I am saving money for Anastasia II. Hopefully enough for a boat refit as well. I would like to prepare her well before leaving. The reason is that I try not to repeat the mistake I made in 2018. My goal is to be back on water sometime in 2026.

Hiking, camping, photography or filmmaking, are my escape to freedom, but aboard a sailboat is where I truly feel at home. And this is why the adventure will continue.
