CIPRIAN POPICA

I’m Ciprian Popica, a photographer, filmmaker and adventurer based in Brasov, Romania. I created 28° North to bring inspiration and introduce you into photography, filmmaking and outdoor adventures through images, videos and personal adventure stories.

I made the first steps into photography at the age of four, next to my dad who was learning photography back then. Sadly he passed away two years later so I didn’t got to enjoy much time with him. Since I had no guide anymore, I found my path in life through books and films about adventures and explorers. Photography to me always remained something special, probably because of the connection with my dad, trying to keep the memories alive.

I started taking photography seriously in 2006 working as a part time photographer, but I changed to video and filmmaking three years later. For a few years I worked mostly in video production either on cruise ships, at StyleArts, ArtWedding or as a freelancer. After a short break, in 2024 I decided to return to photography and filmmaking full time. I’m mostly focused on the great outdoors. I’m always closer to nature, the way I grew up as a child. That is where I get that feeling of true freedom. That doesn’t mean that I only film or photograph the great outdoors. It’s easy for me to swap from a week up into the mountains, to film or photograph a live concert, behind the scenes for a tour, or a portrait session. I preferer minimalist gear since I am always on the move and the one man crew most of the time. I do enjoy working alone as that also offers me creative freedom.

LET'S CAPTURE ADVENTURE

Do you need digital content for a product, business or magazine that truly tells your story ? Or maybe to cover an outdoor event or adventure ?

Send me a message or give me a call with ideas about your project and the available budget. I will get back to you within 24 hours depending on my availability, with an estimate of the costs involved. It is that simple. Let’s start a conversation without obligation to consider the potential.

I also work with brands and businesses to tell authentic, stories that resonate with audiences. The ability to bring positive energy through photography, videos or articles, achieves that emotional connection to a particular product, service or destination. I take the freedom to pick the projects I get involved into. Any projects related to travel, destinations, outdoor adventures, nature, wildlife, sailing, off grid living or promoting a simple and healthy lifestyle closer to nature will have priority. I will politely refuse any projects related to “global warming” or “climate change”.
