Is Dehancer Worth The Money ?
This a personal opinion for all of us. I did got free access to the plugin thanks to Dehancer in order to test it and share my opinions with you. But let’s say that I would also pay for the plugin like anyone else, would I still use it ? The answer is yes. I was already looking at Dehancer before I was even contacted by them. But now after I worked with the plugin, I must admit that it makes my life a lot easier and my color grading process a lot faster.
I am not a colorist and as I was saying in the video, I do not work on Hollywood productions either. So what I need is fast results and a simple workflow when it comes to color grading. I guess it all depends on how much you use it. For some people, the plans may be a little pricey, but if you make a living from film or video production, the lifetime license looks pretty appealing.

My Thoughts On Dehancer
What I like the most, even if I repeat myself, is the time I save using Dehancer. I honestly got bored long time ago by the “perfect look” of the modern digital cameras. Too much sharpness makes the videos look like they have “no soul”, no matter how good the storytelling is. Being able to replicate old film stock that I loved so much on many films and documentaries is a big plus. And is so easy, as all you have to do is to turn on and off a few settings, play with a few sliders and you already got the film look you’re after. Of course the results depend on how much effort and attention to detail you put into the process. You can just leave some settings as default, or you can take it to extreme and really tweak the heck out of those sliders in order to get that perfect film look you’re after.
The only thing I personally disliked is just the fact that it does requires a lot of resources from the computer. Now I also have to mention that the computer I used at the time I filmed the video, is not exactly the latest and the fastest model. So maybe that is also one of the reasons. Other than this, I am happy on anything else and I really enjoy using the plugin. When it comes to the film look, of course in the past I also tried other plugins or film emulators. Some were not so bad, but for some reason I ended up getting the film look using a Lut and a lot of overlays with film grain, dust and scratches and so on. At this point Dehancer is the only plugin that really makes me feel that I can achieve the film look just the way I want it to be.
